What recent guests emphasize

Balanced Comfort with Excellent Service in a Relaxing Setting

Recent guests highlight friendly, attentive staff and a peaceful atmosphere alongside modern, clean facilities. While food quality and variety receive mixed feedback, the resort’s all-inclusive offerings and thoughtful entertainment provide a pleasant experience. Some practical challenges around beach service and pool space are noted.

Guests often praise

  • Consistently friendly, attentive, and welcoming staff across all areas, including restaurants, activities, and spa.
  • Beautiful, well-maintained, modern resort with clean rooms, spacious suites, and lovely outdoor gardens.
  • Relaxed, quiet atmosphere ideal for unwinding, with quality entertainment and engaging activities led by enthusiastic hosts.
  • Excellent drinks program with premium cocktails and enjoyable poolside service.
  • Beach area is well cared for and considered one of the best by guests, despite its smaller size.

Worth knowing

  • Food options vary; some guests find the variety limited and quality inconsistent, with occasional over-salting and smaller portions.
  • Beach service can be slow, with staff often overwhelmed; adding beach-side personnel would improve guest comfort.
  • Poolside loungers are frequently reserved early with towels left unattended; management of the 30-minute time limit is left to guests.
  • Noise can travel between rooms and from hallways, which may affect light sleepers.
  • Wi-Fi connectivity issues reported, especially for Android users, and no umbrella service available at the beach.

Best for

  • Adults and couples seeking a tranquil, upscale all-inclusive experience without party-centered nightlife.
  • Visitors who appreciate attentive service and engaging organized activities in a moderately sized resort.
  • Travelers interested in relaxing beach access combined with modern amenities and good cocktail offerings.
  • Guests looking for a family or friend group getaway with fun entertainment and wildlife viewing, such as local coatis.

Our stay at Hyatt Zilara was overall a very enjoyable and relaxing experience. The service truly stood out — the staff was consistently friendly, attentive, and made us feel welcomed from the moment we arrived. The resort never felt overcrowded, which made it easy to fully relax and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere. The entertainment was on point, with fun, well-organized activities and great nighttime shows that kept the energy lively without being overwhelming. That said, there is room for improvement when it comes to the food. While there were good options available, the quality and variety could be elevated to better match the resort’s standard. Additionally, service in the beach area was noticeably slower; the waiters seemed overwhelmed, and adding more staff there would greatly improve the experience. Overall, Hyatt Zilara offers a beautiful setting, great service, and a relaxing vibe, with just a few areas that could be improved.

You are greeted with champagne and a lovely smile upon arrival. The service was excellent and all staff were friendly and helpful. The entire resort is very clean and all the furniture and fixtures have been remodeled so its very modern and luxurious. The junior king suite was very spacious and we had a lovely balcony with partial ocean view room. We ate at the buffet for lunch and supper and the selection was good although a bit small compared to other buffets at resorts. The Asian restaurant was excellent and the quality was comparable to Thai restaurants in big cities. The coffee shop has a lovely selection of pastries and desserts that are not available anywhere else. The coffee was excellent however there is only one size. The beach is cleaned every day to manage the sargasso coming in. The beach is not very long so there isn't a lot of distance to walk if that's your thing. They could use some plants to fill the space in the hallways by the rooms as its mostly dirt with a vine plant going across it all. The outside gardens are lovely and colorful. The only negative is finding space around the pool. People place towels and do not return, staff do not keep track of the 30 minute time limit so you have to do it yourself and move the towels to find a spot. You have to pay to upgrade to the cabanas. The drinks were excellent and the quality was premium if you asked for it. The service around the pool was quick. The atmosphere is very relaxing and quiet. If you like to party this isn't the place for you. In the night time there is some shows or activities but it gets quiet around 11pm. Overall I would recommend the resort and would definitely come back again.

We booked a friends trip in mid January and Zilara was exactly what we were looking for! We wanted adults only, a relaxing atmosphere, and great food and drinks. We got all of those, but a bonus was the incredible staff. Fermin (Ferminator!!!) and Dayanna on the activities staff were so fun and brought the life of the party. From beach volleyball to the cenote beach walk (our favorite part), they kept us engaged and active. I also got a massage with Anajeli and she was lovely. We had Jorge as our server at Tempest twice and he treated us so well. We've been to Mexico 3 times and Zilara had the best beach area as well. We also loved seeing all of the coatis hanging around. I think the only issue we had was some miscommunication on when/if restaurants were open and if we needed a reservation, but we got it all figured out and enjoyed a meal at each (even with our large group).

Our friends have stayed at the Zalara previously and invited us to enjoy it for an 11-day trip. And enjoy we did! All of the staff was very welcoming. Esperanza made our meals at Lola Beach and at the El Commadore a memorable experience with the best of service along with all the staff at all restaurants on site. Maya and Hector, part of the activities team, are now part of our family as we revisit all of the fun we had with them including bracelet making, water aerobics, and some darn good poolside dancing! A big thanks to everyone for providing us with such great memories.

My husband and I stayed at the resort for my 30th birthday and had an incredible time! The resort was beautiful and very well maintained and all the resort employees made the experience so memorable. The entertainment crew was so lovely and all the bartenders & servers provided excellent service! You will see a lot of wild coatis on the property, especially at the snack bar, but the snack bar crew does a fantastic job at trying to keep them away from guests. They are very thoughtful and stay on top of shooing them away. But we personally thought the animals were so cool to see, completely harmless and absolutely loved chatting with the crew about them! They actually made our trip even more memorable and it made our Mexico experience feel even more authentic. Going from super large resorts, we actually really loved the size of Hyatt Zilara - we were able to meet a ton of people and make vacation friends all throughout our trip. This will be a trip we remember forever!

Love love love this resort. The cocktail program was top notch, the food was delicious, especially the Mexican food and the in general the resort was lovely. We spent a lot of time in the pool, at the pool bar a bit of time at the beach. The sargasam was bad because of the time of year but it didn't bother us since the pools were perfect. They also did a bbq every afternoon with amazing food and fresh squeezed margarita’s. We also did a tequila and mezcal tasting one afternoon which was interesting and educational. The entertainment was was good, not as much as some resorts but much better than others. Since it is in the Maya Riviera there was some wildlife which I enjoyed watching. I can't wait to go back to this resort.

Our stay at the Hyatt Zilara Riviera Maya was great! The views, room, pool, beach, spa, and activities were wonderful, and the staff were the real highlight. Everyone was kind, gay-friendly, and helpful (special shout out to Norma and Miguel at Lola's and Anayeli and William at the spa). While we did tip staff throughout our stay, we felt absolutely no pressure to. The entire property was clean, modern, quiet, and well-equipped. The food was good and had a decent variety, keeping in mind that it is an all-inclusive resort (some other folks' reviews here seem to think they deserve Michelin-level meals, which just isn't practical). Overall, we had a relaxing, fun, and low-key stay and would highly recommend visiting!

Staff are exceptional and the service is 5 star. Beach is beautiful and cleaned often. However, wifi is non-existent especially for android users. They also don't have an umbrella service and the stationary palapas go fast. These are two things that can be easily fixed. The room was beautiful and well equipped but there is hardly any soundproofing. you can hear everything from the next room, hallway and the pool. so lightsleepers may run into issues. The resort itself needs nicer and more upscale decor to keep up with the 5 star esthetics. The food presentation and taste was good at every restaurant However consistently over-salted. the portions are small which is nice because you get quality and less waste. This is not a party resort and they have some entertainment but it's not great. They use a private company for their non-motorized sports who was rarely there and not very helpful or nice.
